No detail large or small is not within my effort to visualize how it might look in a photograph, even if I’m not currently taking one.
01
PERSPECTIVE
Give the sensation of volume, space, depth, and distance. Framing it up.
02
MOMENTS
Never restrict an interpretation of the scene in front of me.
03
LIGHT
It's like speaking a secret language. To be able to read the direction of light and how its degree of diffusion are controlled and translate the highlights and shadows.
04
COMPOSITION
The “rules of composition” are there are no rules simply suggestions or elements of design. Stretched to the limits to create a visually stunning image.
About
I’m Amber Kayo, a New York City–based photographer and visual artist working across commercial photography, portraiture, and fine art.
My eye goes to the details that give an image its character. The way light falls across a surface. A person’s expression before they become aware of the camera. Something ordinary that becomes compelling when you look a little closer. That attention runs through my work, whether I’m photographing a product or someone in their own surroundings.
My portfolio brings together product and still-life imagery, interiors, and people, alongside a fine-art practice that gives me room to experiment. I approach commercial work with that same curiosity, looking for photographs that serve a purpose and still have a point of view.
I also use AI-assisted imaging to explore settings and develop visual concepts from original photographs. My judgment as a photographer guides the process: the light should make sense, materials should feel believable, and the subject should retain its character.
Based in New York, I’m available for photography commissions, creative collaborations, and in-house opportunities.
